Icons on monotor

Ok this is a good one... My mom has an IBM COMPUTER 56K USING WINDOWS ME...
WHEN SHE SHUT IT OFF IT WAS FINE WHEN SHE TURNED IT ON THE NEXT MORNING THE ICONS ON HER MONOTOR HAS FOLDERS OVER THEM.. YOU CAN'T DRAG THE FOLDERS OFF THE ICONS AND EVERYTHING I DO I CAN'T GET THE FOLDERS TO GO AWAY AND JUST HAVE HER ICONS
THERE... ANY SUGGESTIONS????????????

Auto Arrange

I'm not familiar with ME, but with 95/98 you can right click on the desktop and check to see if the auto arrange icons is set.

That's what I'd try first.

If that didn't work, I'd try to see if any weird programs are running in the background. Perhaps some sort of "orginization" application that you recently downloaded?

To check that:
Step 1: Three finger salute (alt control delete)
Step 2: Shut down everything except Explorer, systray, and any system critical things running.

Also... all those capital letters were sort of hard to read. Actually sort of stressful on the eyes...

Kevin,,,, Thank you ever so much... I never thought to right click on the screen and check out
the situation as auto arrange icons...When I did this it led me to correct my mothers problem with the folders on the icons on the screen...Mom is 77 years young this year and loves her computer but hated the folders on the icons... We so much appreciate all your help... Thanks a ton!!!!!
