Identifying motherboard types

I would like to know if there is a way of recognising which type of motherboard is in a particular system. I ther a program to run to assist me.

Form factor or specific model?

Do you mean type as in AT, ATX, NLX, or WTX? Or do you mean the manufacturer and model. I think that on some motherboards there is some sort of ID number on it that you can use to cross-reference it on some motherboard manufacturer database on theInternet. I have no idea as to where the number is located or the site where this motherboard database is. You might want to try http://www.tomshardware.com to see if anything there can help you or maybe http://hardware.pairnet.com. If you know anyone with the Scott Mueller book "Upgrading and Repairing PCs - 12th Edition" then you can use the equipment database that is on the included CD.

Excellent question. Try the Taiwan yellow pages<grin> the BIOS maufactures web pages have utilitys for that i.e. award.com
