IE4.0 Reboots every third/fourth use.

By ebazzett ·
IE4.0 w/ SP1 crashes with the BSOD about every third/fourth session. Most users here open IE, do their business, then close the program. It's the third/fouth attempt when the computer crashes. We're running Compaq DeskPro EN 6400's, running NT 4.0 w/ SP5. I'd like to remain with IE 4 and not upgrade to IE5.

Thanks in advance!

There is a setting that might help

First make sure you have the latest version of IE 4 at least SP2. To check click Help and then click on about IE. Upgrade if needed. I would suggest checking to see if the option "run in a separte process" is checked under "Internet Options" "Advanced." This makes it so IE will not crash the operating system if an error occurs. This is needed especially if you are working on programming web pages.
