    IE5 installation problem

    Locked

    by umybuddy ·

I tried to install IE5 on Windows NT4.0 and it keeps giving the message that i need to clean out files in my cache, cookie, temp. and history folders. I even tried to increase the paging file and registry size. After a reboot and attempting to install it again, the same message comes up again.
Need to know how to solve this frustrating problem?..

      Things to check/do:

      1. Service Packs… there may be a conflict with an old SP and IE5… try the latest SP

      2. Try uninstalling IEx and its accessories first.

      3. Get IE5.5beta, I run it at home and it has no real problems that I can see (plus it has Print Preview).

      4. Disconnect any internet connection that you have (even try it with out your network if you use something net-active).

      5. Try screaming and throw a really large fit and punch the box with all your force, then you really find the problem (that you created ;)).

      Good Luck

Uninstall your present version of IE before installing IE5. If that doesn’t clean out your history folders, etc.,delete the files manually. Then reinstall IE making sure you use the matching encryption strength, 40-bit or 128 bit, as your NT4.0
Might not hurt to use regclean on your registry before installing to be sure you get a clean install. Find it on the MS site.

UnInstall all the previous versions of IE that is located in the add/remove programs, chec the explorer properties and see
what versions of IE exist on your system and delete previous versions and then reinstall IE5

Well it seems to want more space. IE5 takes like 100 megs of space when it is installed.
How much hard disk space to you have.

and also try the SP fix 3 has IE4 and i believe that 6 has IE5
