IIS6 not serving anything from a W23K server

Hi folks,
well you are my last resort before a complete re-install.

Yesterday about 4pm noone could get into an app under IIS 6.0 on a W2003 std. server.
From the workstation console it won’t either.
The app is ASP, so to get closer we tried .htm (eg hello.htm or the default iistart.htm)
those don’t load either (404).

Everything else works fine, SQL-EM, SQL-QA. DNS, DHCP managers see the server. IIS will disconnect and reconnect to the server without error or incident. Everything _looks_ as it should no matter where we look on the server.

We just can’t get _any_ page to load. The logs show no errors or warnings that haven’t occured before without incident in the past 36 months.

Does anyone have even a crumb of an idea what we’re missing? I really don’t want to reinstall everything…

thanks
