I’m a biologist investigating the possibility of identifying great crested newts by their unique ventral markings using computer image analysis.
I’m aware that the technology exists to compare for example fingerprints against a database, and was wondering if there is any windows software freely available that could be used to compare scanned images. Images will be processed to simplify them. To give an idea of the complexity of the image/landmarks within, imagine the outline of a newts belly with a series of outlined circles within the belly region.
Thanks in advance.
