Incorrect Drive B Error

By Shanghai Sam ·
When I start up the computers in the lab each morning, several come up with the following error: 02B3: Incorrect Drive B type - run SETUP...press esc to resume...<F1> to Setup
Our IT team hasn't been able to find a solution to this for close to a year now. For reasons unbeknownst to me, it seems to be spreading now throughout the building. It appears we now have 15 computers on our LAN with this same error. Any suggestions?

Incorrect Drive B Error

by SJTEE In reply to Incorrect Drive B Error

Sounds like a setting in the BIOS - ie a drive B: has been created in the BIOS, but no physical drive can be found. If this is the case, find and remove in the BIOS - might even require an upgrade. If this doesn't work, it could be that the stsyem battery on the motherboard is flat, and therefore not updating and remebering the BIOS settings.

Good luck...

I concour with sjtee. I would check on the condition of the cmos battery.

However, with the problem spreading, you cannot rule out a virus, or "jokeware"
