Installing Windows 2003 Server on a Verari systems H246 dual Opteron

Hi,

I’m really hoping someone can help me. I recently purchased two of these servers

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=VERARI-SERVER-1B&cat=SYS

I’m trying to install Windows 2003 Server Standard but the server gives a BSOD during setup with a STOP 0x0000007B error.

I’m pretty sure this is related to the fact that W2K3 server does not have SATA drivers.

So, it seems as though I have one of two options:

1. Go into the BIOS, find a compatibility mode and change it from SATA to ATA

or

2. Find some SATA drivers, put them on a floppy and use F6 during setup.

Option 1 seems to be out, since the BIOS only seems to allow you to say whether the OS supports HCPI or not. If I say no, I can’t get the server to boot.

Option 2 seems to be my best choice but I don’t have a manual or a data sheet, so I have no idea what drivers I need (don’t know what kind of SATA controller is in this thing).

Has anyone been through this or can point me in the direction of the drivers ?

Many thanks,
Mark Lee
