    Intel wireless pre-logon with Novell

    Locked

    by wootfepp ·

I hope someone can help with this issue. I have a group of tablet pc’s that I have to deploy and they have to be able to authenticate to the wireless before logging in to the domain. I am using the latest version of the intel proset wireless client and Novell 4.91 SP2. I made sure that all the settings were correct according to all the research that I’ve done. I have it set to pre-logon. I need to use the intel client because the windows client doesn’t support the security policies that we are using. It may be something simple, but it’s really a kick in the rear right now, any help would be appreciated, thank you.

What do you mean by authenticate?

As for the domain,Netware doesn’t use such a thing,it’s a tree or are you trying to connect to a Windows server?

        novell server

Sorry I misused my wordage. It is a novell server. The goal I am trying to achieve is to get the intel wireless client to come up before the novell login screen does. If it doesn’t, then it won’t let me sign on to the computer unless I tell it to connect as workstation only and access the admin profile through the local machine, then log into the novell client from there.
After some research, I found out that after you install the wireless client, you should be able to access the novell client properties, go to location profiles, and there should be an option to enable a wireless tab. Unfortunately that is not coming up for me. I have completely uninstalled the intel client and novell. Then I installed the novell client on the pc, then the intel wireless client, still no go.

      Problem solved

Thanks to everyone who has read this and offered some help. The problem I was having was it needed to be persistent and I had to enter a generic username and password that has a membership on the server. The wireless client wasn’t designed to require that you login with your username and password before the novell login screen, but requires that one be saved before it will connect and won’t prompt like the atheros wireless clients will do. Now I have it connecting to the wireless before logging into the machine.
