      – What exactly is “very very slow”?
      – Find another device with a USB-connection. Is it faster there?
      – Find another flash drive. Is that faster?
      – What is the capacity of the stick? How much free and used space?
      – I don’t think formatting helps, but why don’t you want to try? It’s just a backup after all.

Slow transfer speeds on exFAT can be due to file size, iPad’s USB limitations, or the flash drive’s speed. Try using a different USB-C cable or port, closing background apps, or transferring in smaller batches. If possible, test the drive on another device to check if the issue persists.

ExFAT should work fine, but speed issues may be due to the iPad’s USB interface. Have you tried another USB drive or checking for iPadOS updates?
