Intermittent access to network share folder

by vdawg02 . Updated 17 years, 3 months ago

Hello,

I run a cache server on the domain controller in my office. My workstations connect to a shared directory on the cache server throughout the day, but after a few hours it can’t access it.

My domain controller runs Windows 2000 server and my workstations run Windows XP professional.

The workstations can usually access the share initially when I log into the domain, but after a few hours it can’t access it and if I navigate to that directory manually it asks me for my username and password.

I had this problem before and I think it was fixed by having that domain controller function as the DHCP server, but I want to run the DHCP server from my router.

Is there a time-out feature on being able to access shared directories on the domain?

Please let me know if you have any ideas. I would really appreciate it.

Thank you.
