Internet disconnecting on one computer on home network frequently

By rickiedee7448 ·
Hi I just setup a network at home of 2 computers. Both are running Windows XP with SP2. I recently moved and everything was fine at the last house, but now, my one computer in the garage only, keeps disconnecting from the internet every 10-20 minutes, then comes back online after about 2 minutes. I can access my other computer on the network though during this disconnectivity. I think it may have something to do with the length of the ethernet cable I have attached, it is about 35 feet long, and is actually 2 cables, not one, and it is spliced in the middle because i could not find a coupler to join them. Please help me this is really annoying!

Cable

Network cables are designed to certain specs. When you slice a cable you will often destroy the hysteresis (magnetic field transmission patterns) of a cable. Replace the cable with on of the appropriate length.
