Internet Explorer 4.01

I have a "cleanIE" utility that is not good
in removing IE 4.01. Need to reinstall IE for compatibility with some other software.
Anybody know about a ulility that will wipe
IE including registry entries,DLL's drivers
and all other files? Perhaps it doesn't
exist, but I need to ask.

Try quarterdeck cleansweep. It's good at finding programs and their files then unistalling them. I've used it before and it worked fine on IE4. IE5...no go. Microsoft has hooked that one thoroughly into everything it touches.

I've tried to uninstall it with both CleanSweep and Norton and it was a disaster. I'm afraid the only way is to reinstall Windows. Nevertheless you could try so sort out your problem of compatibility by a) disabling any trace of "Web Desktop" or b) Install the last version of JavaVM you can find or c) install the Microsoft JVM

When MS first, integrated the browser to the os, I tried forever to get rid of it. There are lots of programs around the net to "try" and get rid of it. Really after trying for about 3 months to get rid of it all I was left with was a roasted os. I saved my data, formatted and reinstalled, and lived with it.

Therefore I would just format and reinstall the thing.
