Internet Sharing through one NIC card

By udaya31 ·
Hello Everyone,

In my Notebook_1 I have only one NIC card. And I use PPPOE connection for the internet. Now I want to share this internet
to my another Notebook_2 from the notebook_1 which has only one NIC card. I want to share the internet through wireless of Notebook_1 to Notebook_2.

For sharing the internet I kept the ip address in wireless of Notebook_1 and in notebook_2 I kept the ip address
of same network and in the advanced tab of wireless of notebook_1 I select the internet sharing. And I tried to access the internet from Notebook_2 but the internet couldn't be accessed.

So, firstly is it possible to share the internet in this scenario?
If it is possible then please help me in sharing the internet.

Default gateway

by Mad1336 In reply to Internet Sharing through ...

The default gateway of notebook_2 needs to point to notebook_1

For example.
Notebook_1
IP: 192.168.1.1
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

Notebook_2
IP: 192.168.1.2
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

What operating system are the notebooks using?

Network adapter

by Mad1336 In reply to Internet Sharing through ...

You need to enable the network adapter on notebook_1 for Internet Connection Sharing.

Assuming you have done this done.

On notebook_2 you need to edit the TCP/IP settings of the network adapter to make the default gateway to the same as the notebook_1

Here is a guide. I hope this helps.
