Ip blocking

By jeff ·
I run an exchange 2003 mail server behind a Linksys BEFSR41 router. Recently I subscribed to Postini in an attempt to reduce spam and viruses in our email. I want to block connections to port 25 which do not come from Postini, but I can't figure out how to do this. I'd really appreciate some help.

From Exchange

You can't do that from the BEFSR41, but you can do that from your Exchange server.

Can't imagine why you couldn't find it ...
Exchange System Manager / Administrative Groups / First Administrative Group / Servers / Your server name / protocols / SMTP / Default SMTP Virtual Server / Properties / Access tab / Connection button / select 'Only the list below' / populate the list with the Postini servers.

I had tried that before, but I must have mistyped something. It worked this time, Thanks!

Removing Postini

Does this process, in reverse, work for removing Postini from exchange?

To remove Postini

In order to stop the exchange server from going through Postini, you'd have to change your MX record. Right now, my MX record points to Postini's servers.
