IP configuration for Clients

By rehana_soni ·
I have a windows server 2003. There are 10 computers connected to it through LAN.They are all sharing Files and other resources but the problem lies in internet sharing. The server has ISDN internet connection and is running smoothly on the server but not on the clients. What's the problem, can anybody help me in rectifying it?

Make sure all the clients have the server as their default gateway. Did you set up Internet connection sharing on the server? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324286/en-us

Make sure they are all using the server as the gateway, all are on the same subnet, and each client is using the correct DNS settings.

Have you enabled internet sharing in the dialup properties?

Make sure all the clients have the server as their default gateway and you have to set a proxy for all the clients & a connection sharing on Internet onthe server

Get rid of your ISDN and get Broadband. Get a router that controlls all clients internet access and this will save your server from unwanted processor usage. Failing that put another NIC in your server so that it is in-between your isdn and your clients and then set up NAT(RRAS) on your server. The IP address of the internal NIC will be your client's gateway IP address.

Rehana ;
1. Configure your settings about sharing the net on the server.
2.configure your defalt gateway and dns entries on the clients
3.use tracert command to see if you can reach a well known web site from your client.see where you cannot run over a hop and fix the problem

Is your modem configured correctly and are you using a router anywhere on your network. If not use your server as a default gateway. also make sure dhcp settings on your server are configured correctly, and make sure dhcp is also configured properly on the client side.
