I can't seem to get JPG files to open up in Photo Editor when I double click them from explorer. Photo Editor opens up, but the file doesn't open up with it. In explorer I associated the open command for JPG files to point to Photo Editor. Anyonehave any ideas? The marketing dept and word processing won't get off my back!! Thanks.

Go back into explorer and into tools, options, jpg. In the open command, make sure you have the path to the photoed.exe in quotes, followed by a space, then %1 in quotes. Here's an example.
"path\photoed.exe" "%1"
This will allow photo editor toopen your JPG file from anywhere other than the local machine.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Photo Editor that came with Office 97, for some reasons, cannot open some .JPG files, especially if the .JPG files are created by Macintosh and even saved for the PC format. But normally Photo Editor can open .JPG files. I have this exact problem. Luckily, the solution is to install Photo Editor that's bundled with Office 2000.

Photo Editor from Office 2000 can open this. Once opened, resaved it or save it to another name. Only after this process can Photo Editor from Office 97 open .JPG files. Weird I know. But that's how I made it to open.

Enjoy!

I suggest you to use a graphic editor that can be downloaded from the net. That way will save you a lot of hassle to edit the registry or file association.
You can try to download from the www.tucows.com or www.download.com.
There may be some image editors that may suit your requirement.
Hope these saves your hassle.

You created the association, then it is most probably the %1 you left out after the executable command-line...
