Junk in the Box

I recently had the displeasure of installing a new network for a company that had purchased all new Gateway computers. For some reason the purchasing agent forgot to spec out the computers with NIC cards. I ordered the standard 3COM NIC for the computers. I had a terrible time getting the 3COM cards to work. I finally called Gateway and they said that the company should buy their proprietary NIC card. I said ok and ask the company to do so. The Gateway NIC cards were about $10 more apiece than the 3COM cards. I also had problems with the switch that was sent. I swapped the switch for an HP Procurve. Not to mention that 23 of the computers sent were DOA and needed new motherboards. It seems that particular motherboard they used was causing problems, after I made a call to Gateway. Question: Does anyone else have this kind of problems with Gateway products? Other PC manufacturers. Send me your comments.
