I use Kazaa (the latest P2P version)to download music. I am running a PC with Win98SE with 128MB SDRAM. If I run Kazaa for more than 10 minutes, quit out of it, and then try to shut down the computer, it gives me a fatal exception error and hangs up on the blue screen. I need to turn the power off and then run Scandisk at bootup to clear the problem.
In addition, running Kazaa sometimes locks up other programs and says there isn’t enough memory to run them. The only programs I have running in the back are ZoneAlarm, and NAV, and normally at bootup I have about 83% resources free. I know Kazaa is a memory hog, but the problem gets worse the longer I let Kazaa run. I can normally run Winamp in the back, but not after an hour of downloading, then it won’t let me run anything. Not even to see how much resources I am using.
I run Maintenance tools pretty regularly. I want to know if there is a known bug in Kazaa, or some kind of a memory bleed…and if there is a fix for it, besides upgrading Windows.
Thanks for your help.
