Keep students from Changing background wallpaper through browser.

By ccover ·
We are running Windows 2000 Server, with a policy that doesn't allow the students in our school to change their background in their profiles. Students are getting around it by using Internet Explorer and saving pictures as their Wall paper. Is their any way to prevent this?

use a mandatory profile in conjunction with group policy.

users can change desktop appearance during their session, however with a mandatory profile, changes aren't saved once they log off.

This works in XP

I'm not sure if this will work in Win2k Server, however, I've made this policy change in XP.

Look in the Group Policy Editor and go into the User Configuration. Go to Control Panel -> Display. There may be a setting for "Prevent changing wallpaper". I did this to keep our soldiers from changing the background from IE and Paint. Though, I had to do this on each system as I could not set up a server for this.
