display setings

by Bogomir In reply to labtop screen size

do I read this right:
you got the whole desktop displayed, but much smaller than ususal, in the center of the screen, and there is a wide black rim around it?

If so, this is what happened:
The Laptop (as in LAP-dance, not LABoratory :-) has a fixed number of pixels it can displax, say 1024x786. If the setting for the video-signal is changed to something lower, such as 800x600, only the center 800x600 pixel area is displayed. Some Laptops have a BIOS-Setting, such as "stretch screen". That would **** the 800x600 resolution up to full screen size, but with a bad picture quality.

So:
Try to access the video-settings of your operating system (in case of any MS-Windows: right-click the desktop, and select "video-settings in the appearing context-menue) and change the resolution to whatever your Laptop can display. You will get a trial-screen that is reset after 15sec. if you don't confirm it's working.

Did that help?

Tom
