LACIE External USB Disk Boots before my Internal SATA disks

By robert.lopez ·
Hi There,

I have an issue with my External USB disk connected to a HP G5 ML110 using Raid 1 on SATA drives.

When I reboot the server the USB disk tries to boot first. The Boot order is set to DVD, Hard Disk, USB so I can't see why it is jumping up the queue and booting that first.

At the moment the workaround is to turn the hard disk off and reboot then turn it back on post W2k3 has begun loading.

Has anyone seen this or know how to fix this issue help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks

In your BIOS write down the settings.......

Then click on the "load default setting", and then "save and exit", now reboot your server. When done go back into the BIOS and put the settings back the way you want them and then re-boot, this time it should keep your DVD as first boot, harddrive as second and the USB as the third boot option.

Yep, I've seen the same behaviour

Not just on servers either.
No idea why, fixed it the same way you did.
