LACP across multiple cisco switches

By colinrm ·
Hi, I have been requested by my server team to set up LACP to team two nics. They have further requested that these nics be connected via two separate cisco 6500's for resiliency. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

I'm pretty sure you can't span an etherchannel across 2 switches. However, if your 6500 has multiple switch modules, you could use ports from 2 different modules and if you have redundant Supervisor engines that should provide the desired resiliency. If you need instructions for configuring the switch, see this article:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.1E/native/configuration/guide/channel.html#wp1033345
Here's an excerpt:
All Ethernet LAN ports on all modules, including those on a redundant supervisor engine, support EtherChannels (maximum of eight LAN ports) with no requirement that the LAN ports be physically contiguous or on the same module
