Laptop cannot connect to a certain wireless networks

By helppp ·
(First off, because this might be rly important, my IP address is weird : starts with 169.254 )

I have an acer aspire AOA150 laptop. I have been going online via wireless in various locations, but I'm at my grandma's house and I cannot connect here. I can connect at a restaurant down the street, just not here.

However, when I look at my wireless network list I CAN see her network, along with others. The strength is strong, even. But when i click connect it just keeps showing "Waiting for network.. " and then it closes and I'm still not online and nothing has changed.
Her laptop can work fine here, I'm using it now to go online.
Her router is Linksys.

Basically, my laptop can connect to other locations, but not here.

Also, I have a weird IP address, starting with 169.254 When I clicked repair, it said there's an error because it cannot renew my IP address.

HELP!!!!! Please, I'm going to be living here and i really need my computer to work right..

IP address

Is a self-assigned IP address, that is the computer has self assigned the address because it is unable to get one from elsewhere, it may be because the Linksys router you are using has not been set up as a DHCP server or that the encryption key you are entering is incorrect or that the encryption type is different on the router that what you have set up on your laptop.
