Locked

Latitude NumLock

By Jennifer.Gardner ·
Hi!

I have a Latitude Cpi laptop, and the NumLock lights up everytime it's booted. In the BIOS, the num lock is disabled, but this is for external keyboards anyway (which I am not using). The causes problems, because when people try to enter the password for this system, they don't realize that the j is 1, k is 2, etc. Has anyone come across this before? I didn't see an option to reset the BIOS defaults. Perhaps a flash is in order?

Many thanks!

I flashed the BIOS (taking it from 05 to 15!), but that didn't help. Any ideas?

I have a couple other laptops of the same model, and they don't do this. This leads me to believe that there's a setting somewhere... I would reformat the machine, but if it's a BIOS setting (that I can't see for whatever reason) that would be a waste of my time.

Could this be an early sign that the motherboard is going bad? This laptop is pretty old... (PII 366)

Hold down the FN Key (Ususally blue or green letters) and press the NUM LOC key. That turns the Number Lock on and off. Some laptop Keys have dual purpose, just find the key with fn or FN on it and the Num loc Key. I'm not sure on the Latatude which kets they are.

I am able to turn the num lock off. I'm trying to prevent it from automatically turning on every time the laptop is booted. Thanks anyway!
