Lengthy synchronizing with Server 2008 when logging off of workstation

By barth.travis ·
Hello,

I have a small LAN with 5 Windows XP Pro workstations and one Windows Server 2008 configured as a domain controller and file server.

On the workstations the My Documents directory is redirected to the file server.

When logging off there is a quick message stating that something is synchronizing with the server. Sometimes the process takes a couple minutes (according to the person telling me about this).

Any ideas as to what is happening and why it takes extra time sometimes?

Thank you,

-Travis

Have you gone to look at the PC yourself?

With a user who simply says 'something' is synchronizing.... I would think you would have gone to look at the PC yourself so you can figure out what that 'something' is.

This is what I'll do.

I've seen the machines do they synch, but I haven't seen one take an extended amount of time to do it. I am currently on a different island so I can't go see this for myself.

I'll have them disable the service and see if that makes them happy.

Thanks to all.
