LG CD-R/RW software

I have recently bought from Vancouver Canada an LG CD-R/RW Drive model No: GCE-8481B p/n 3890H-1593G ver A and the associated software is Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic (Direct CD) ROXIO ECDC 5.3.0.107, Direct CD 5.3.0.107. I tried several times to load this software but have failed to do so and the following error keeps popping up “Error 1913 could not update the INI file C:\Windows\system.ini. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it” I have checked the box “show hidden files” in Folder
Options but same problem persists. I wrote to LG and Roxio but no response from them till date and I am eager to use my brand new CD Writer. I have Win98 (4.10.1998)Pentium PIII, 128MB SDRAM, 40GB Hard Disk. Please help urgently many thanks Regards – Khushroo Dholoo

I’ll look into your problem and try to find an actual solution, but for now check out the following link to download CDBurnerXP Pro which is a full featured freeware burning program. It should keep you busy burning until your Roxio problem is fixed.

Go to C:\Windows\ in Windows Explorer, right-click the system.ini file and select properties.
Make sure the “Read-Only” box is NOT checked. If this doesn’t fix the problem please comment.

I could easily install teh Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic after I unchecked the system.ini “read only” box. Many thanks to Mr Sean Creek and Best Regards – Khushroo
