Local Printers via RDP on Server 2003

by mbmckeever . Updated 17 years ago

Occasionaly, my users’ Local Printers will disappear when they are connected to the Terminal Servers via RDP. In the past, a simple logging off/logging on to the Terminal Server will restore the printer in question. However, starting yesterday with one printer and continuing today with most of my other users, even Restarting their local PC and logging back on to the Terminal Server will not restore the access to it via RDP. The printers themselves are still installed on the local machines but not available in the RDP session.

I am working around this by Sharing the local printer and then Adding a Network Printer to the users’ RDP sessions. Curiously, I have also noted that once I have done this, some of the local printers have reappeared in the RDP session along with the Shared Printer. Any ideas what could be causing this increasingly annoying situation?
