Getting pop-ups showing viruses and malware infections. Pop-ups titled with "XP Internet Security - Unregistered Version". Have current version of Trend Micro Internet Security (exp July 2010). How do I get rid of the XP Internet Security and is it a hijacker or such?

Download Malwarbytes and hope its not too infected. Thats a nasy one and if it is do bad it is so deep in the registry only way to get rid of it completely is to rebuild the operating system. Here is link to download it.
What you need to do is to get a flash drive like a U3 and install and update to that drive the Malwareybytes program.
Google a program called Combofix and copy the combofix.exe file to the drive.
reboot the infected computer, plug in the flash drive and run the combofix.exe file from the flash drive. Follow the prompts and once that is finished run malwarebytes from the flash drive and reboot again.
From there install, update and rerun malwarebytes from your computer and check the local host file
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ you can open the file with notepad
if you find anything in this file delete it. Malwarebytes should have fixed it but sometimes it doesn't do a complete job.
good luck, i've had to remove this virus from several machines at work. people who write virues should have there keyboards broken.
