Masters student to Admin - Better ways?

By tikilona ·
It's been a semester since I started my Masters in Computer Science (A security guy). Presently I hold 2 positions for about an year..

- 1. Research Assistant with average programming skills *MCTS in c#>
- 2. Don't know what to call this. Admin? you decide based on the description..
Designed, Config, Maintaining working of 3 RHEL servers and 1 Win '03. ESXi 3. and more. I know it's too short for a desc. Very small setup, but i'm the only guy doing the n/w os install and learned a lot. Will continue to hold on to this until I graduate.

Got my security+ cert / MCSA:S. To me loveOf(Admin stuff == prog) always returns true. Wanna get more into admin side. Ready 2 take overnight work & pressure.

Any pointers on if should go the MCSE->MCITP / CCNA way to get a better paying job after graduating? ALso, is demand for admins low?

Thanks Fellas :)

It looks legit to me. Did someone make a mistake?

tikilona, go with what provides you the most satisfaction. You'll be much happier in the long run doing something you like for reasonable pay than getting paid generously for a job you dread going to.
