MCSA Electives

By ShowDudu ·
I need to take an elective to complete my MCSA requirement. I am thinking taking either 70-299(Implementing and Administering Security in a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network) or 70-431(SQL Server 2005 - Implementation and Maintenance). I am attending attending Microsoft institution taking classes for 70-270, 70-290 and 70-291. Please, will those classes (70-270, 70-290 and 70-291) help me prepare for 70-299 or just give 70-431 a try

All of them include security info which will give you a pretty good understanding of some of the basic material covered by the 70-299. Of course you'll still need to study for the exam, but if you have a good foundational knowledge and some experience administering and implementing security in a 2003 AD environment you should be able to get by with a couple study guides and some practice exams.

You might also want to take CompTIA's Security+ Cert. This, combined with the 70-299 will give you the security specialization for MCSA 2003
