Media player problems

By firesponge ·
I just upgraded to the nvidia K7420 board W/ integrated video. Since then my windows media player and any player I download keeps playing all my avi and mpeg files too fast and I can't find the problem. Is the problem associated with the media players or is it the board?

Media player problems

You might actually have a BIOS problem. Check the version and make sure you have the current v2.4 Bios. You can also post this question at the MSI forum for the nForce chipset motherboards here: http://cweb.msi.com.tw/eforum/?target=topic&fid=9
Note: you will have to register to be able to post to the forum, but it is a benefit to do so.
There also is a problem with this board and any OS prior to ME (win9x even 98se) there are some workaround as follows:
win98 SE
I've been through the pain of making this board work with win98se as follows:

1. Reformated primary partition
2. bios upgraded to v2.4 (seems to get supplied with 2.0)
3. Configure Bios options as per article by Pyro (See hot articles) and installed win98se
4. Installed WDM audio hot fix from http://www1.rm.com/docs/files/pc/q242937.exe
5. Installed nvidia nforce drivers v1.00 (don't bother with v1.05 as the alleged win98se version seems to be expecting win98me
6. Installed win98se shutdown issues update to resolve occasional blue screens.
7. Installed detonator drivers. This is infuriatingly hit and miss as many of the releases don't recognise the integrated GPU. e.g. 28.32 worked ok but when it was re-released with WHQL it didn't. I'm currently on v29.41 beta.
