Hi Guys…
i am trying to use a microphone via my soundcard to use in chat rooms etc. Then problem i am having is the record volume of the mic is so low that it is virtually silent. I have been able to get it to work using a pre amp in the microphone input…this is stupid as thats what the mic input is for…even then i have to have the pre amp turned up to about 20V to get decent audio. I am running w2k prof and have tried 2 different soundcards ( and yes the mic works fine in my dads pc running 98) . I have checked the obvoious record levels via the volume control etc…does any body have any suggestions as to why this wont work. I would imagine (but dont know for sure) that this is a software problem not hardware
any help would be much appreciated
