microsoft definition of a user

By And_the_beat_goes_on ·
I am trying to find out what Microsofts definition of a user is for Server 2003 CAL's. I cannot find anything that defines this. Is a user a body? or an account?

From what I understand, it is a physical login to the server. You can have as many accounts as you want as long as more don't login than you have CAL's for.

Thank you for the post. Here is my situation, we use the same generic user account for several ppl to log onto their PC's. Does this count as 1 user?

Shouldn't be a problem as long as it is just one physical user. If multiple people are logging in with the same account, each time that account logs in would count as one separate login.
