Its not a problem, it's just that if you type this in ms word
=rand( , ) and put any number in between then press ENTER you get "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"
the amt of times you typed in e.g
=rand(1,2)and press enter you get this

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
WHY?

This is just a feature built into Word to enable you to quickly throw random text into a document, for example if you are working with a newsletter, formatting around images etc. Similar idea to the "locum" random text used by print shops.

Its described fully in the Microsoft KB article #212251:

What probably started out as a programmer with a sick sense of humor turned out to be something that people used.

Or as Microsoft likes to say. Undocumented Feature
