Migrating Netware 5 Data to Win 2k3

Whats the best way to migrate from Netware 5 (Users Data Files Only) to Windows 2003 Server? Thanks

If you are simply moving data, and not user names & security, the two most popular ways are:

1) XCOPY. At a workstation, MAP drive letters to both servers (N:=NetWare Server, W:=Windoze server). Then open a command prompt use XCOPY N:\Folder\*.* W:\Folder\*.* /h/i/c/k/e/r/y (those options will get all files, including hidden/system, and will not stop if there is an error)

There's also a 3rd party utility called XXCOPY ( that has many more options. I recommned against using the windows explorer GUI -- very slow, can leave out some files.

2) If both servers use the same media & backup software brand, backup the data from NetWare & restore it to Windows. This will be much faster. make sure you choose the software's option to expand compressed files before writing them to tape.
