missing chimouse.vxd file

By warrenL ·
Each time I start up I get the following message.

System.ini file refers to a file chimouse.vxd that no longer exists. Try uninstalling with its uninstall program of setup program. Or try reinstaling it to replace the missing file.

press key to continue.

I have deleted as much as I can find of this file, but still get the same message.

How do I get rid of this message?

You have to edit the system.ini file in the windows directory.

You can open it with any text editor. Search it for the reference to chimouse.vxd and delete it.

edit the system.ini file but do not delete anything instead comment it out.

once you delete something you can not bring it back if you should ever need it.

Comment it out is a new term to me. How do I do that?

I also am not familiar with a Tech Editor. Please let me know how to obtain one. I also am having trouble finding the System.ini file to see if chimouse is there.

I never received an answer to my request for further clarification of the suggestions. However I did clear the problem by reinstalling and old mouse that I do not use anymore.

Thanks

Warren
