Missing Files

By CarlosO ·
I just bought the WinSE upgrade and attempted to install it. The system is working fine, so I thought. When Windows was ready to copy the files for the upgrade I got a message saying that it can't do the upgrade because of missing files necessary to do it. How can I find out what files are necessary for the upgrade to go in. Can I load these files from the Win98 CD??
I really don't want to start from scratch and load Win98 then SE.

I know it sounds off-the-wall, but have you updated your system according to Microsoft releases. It might be looking for a more recent set of files than what you have (e.g. Java Support, ActiveX 7, Security patches, etc...)
If you need extra help finding the page to do an online update, let me know.

Good Luck!

Missing Files

Hello Calves..
Not really. I guess if I knew the the files that Windows was looking for I could get it from the CD. I have done release to release upgrades, with no updates in-between, and never had this problem. Do you have the page I can go to to update Win98?? Then I can try the SE upgrade.
Thanks for the help.
