Missing System.mdw file when starting Access

I have a Access database front end that is stored localy on a users PC. The back end is SQL on a server.

I have about 10 people who get this error occationally when they go into Access:

could't find file 'System.mdw'. This file is required for startup.

I have found that if they open Access with the shortcut to the file is when it happens. So my fix for the mean time is to open Access via the Access icon. Then go to open and navigate to the file. Then they can close out and go and use the shortcut and it works fine.
I would like to eliminate all the extra work.

Does anyone have any ideas?

mdw file is the security file of Access database...

This file usually should be under the same folder with the MDB database. Secured database can only be opened with the shortcut generated by Access when you create user security. The shortcut path should something like:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE" "F:\Database\Database.mdb" /WRKGRP "F:\Database\Security.mdw"

To solve your issue, you need to find the System.mdw file (or recreate one if you can get into the database), make sure the path in the shortcut for each user are point to the correct path.
