Monitor PC usage

By stergios_nik ·
Hello.

I have a Windows network (65 PCS). I want to monitor PC usage. We are interested in producing reports that will show how many PCs are in use (logged on) at a specific point in time.

I.e. The report should present that on 10 of April 2005 at 13.00 o'clock 10 PCs out of 65 are logged on. If possible we want to display on a Graph for a specific time interval (i.e. from 21:00 to 21.30) the total number of PCs that were used (logged) at that specific time interval.

Sample Graph

09.00 *********** (11 PCs logged on)
09.10 *************** (15 PCs logged on)
09.20 ******************** (21 PCs logged)
09.30 *********
09.40 **************
09.50 *********
09.60 **************

Do you know any special software that can produce this kind of reports?

Thank you in advance.

I have been looking for something like this for a long time. It seams that windows have very POOR support for monitoring users. Sad, but true. I will be looking for ya, and i will see what i can dig up.

In use as in turned on and attached to network or where someone is actually logged on to the machine.

If you're just interested in turned, and presuming firewalls don't block ping replies then a script to just go out and ping each machine and right to a text file would be a simple start.
Then another to take the text file and import and graph in Excel.

Hi,

I use a tool called psloggedon to identify who is logged onto a specific PC - you may be able to generate a script that could use this tool to accomplish the task.

Do a Google search for pstools.
