MONITOR.NLM Locks up Netware 5 server.

By jfowler ·
I just started having this problem recently. Before I was able to start MONITOR and configure the server with it. However, now whenever I open MONITOR and move around within it' menu system, the server completely locks up. No abends, no error logs, it just ceases to function on all levels. No response to the keyboard, users loose server connection, and I can?t RJCON to it. There is even video fragmentation on the display when this happens and it only happens when I load MONITOR.NLM. It?s a PIII 600EB Netware 5 server with Service Pack 5 installed and 768MB of memory. There is nothing else weird about it?s behavior, save for occasionally the keyboard will stop functioning, but I believe this is due to the KVM switch that it?s connected to.It shares a keyboard and monitor with a Linux server and when I leave the screen set on the Linux box for a long period of time, the keyboard won?t work when I switch back to the Netware server. However, I am still able to RJCON to it and users still have connectivity. However, I believe this all started happening when I was unable to use the keyboard one day I wanted to do some timesync configuration, so I opened a RJCON to the server and loaded MONITOR. I started moving around in it and then I lost connection with the server. I went up to look at it and it had some video garbage on the screen. I rebooted the server, since I couldn?t get any response from it. When it came back up I tried to load MONITOR from the console, and it locked up again! Well, by this time I had users on my back about getting the server back up, so I rebooted again and just left it alone. Well a few weeks have past and I decided to give MONITOR one last try, I go to the console and load it. I get almost to thetimesync section and boom, it locks up again! I haven?t used MONITOR since, and like I said everything else **seems** to be working fine. Anyone know what might be wrong?

Have you tried running vrepair againist the sys vol? Give that a shot and see if it finds and corrects any problems for you.

It ended up being a problem with Timesync and the Netware UltraATA Driver. Thanks for the help, but vrepair didn't help.
