By phillipflp ·
I am using XP PRO . I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY A4TECH MOUSE IT SEEMS TO BE FREEZING UP AND WHEN IT FREEZES UP THE PC MAKES A BEEPING SOUND THEN UNFREEZES . LOOKED AT MIRCOSOFT HELP PAGES NOTHING TO HELP THERE AND DONE A TROUBLESHOOTING AND THEY COULDNT HELP EITHER. OHHH THE ONLY WAY THIS MOUSE WORKS I HAD TO SPEED UP THE POINTER .
AM THINKING BOUT REFORMATTING TO SEE IF THAT HELPS ..... ANY IDEAS
THANKS PHILL

Hi,

I more suspect spyware or a virus as your problem. The freezing mouse, coupled with the beeping sounds, is an indication of heavy CPU activity. The beeping noise is a result of the buffers being full and unable to handle any new transactions.I would ensure that you do not have a virus and remove any spyware. Should this not be the problem, I would look at applications running in the background.

I hope this helps.

First, make sure you have the most update ref files for ad-aware and your virus scanner (lavasoft just released a new build of ad-aware too). If running those didn't help, try turning down your hardware graphics acceleration. Clear your temp. internet files, defrag the hard drive... beyond that, yes, you might have to reformat, even ad-aware can't get everything, and that can end up choaking the life out of a computer.

Did you open the mouse, remove the ball and clean the rollers on the inside? You would need a paper clip to clean the lint and stuff stuck to the rollers. Which Operating Systm ars you using? Reformating does not sound like a logical thing to do. Did you try reinstalling the mouse drivers?

Reread in or Reload the mouse programs and then get the computer to reread them fefreshing them and see if that works.

First, try to uninstall device driver, reboot computer and install driver again.
If it doesnt help, then try to find drivers for same model of mouse of Genius. Maybe is sounds stupid, but it often helps me (and opposite - sometimes mouse driver ofA4Tech works better for Genius mouse devices. Why? I don't know.)
