Moving display screen

By muchach1 ·
My display screen is moving. It is moving in a wave motion like water. I ruled out the monitor itself. I tried 2 other monitors and the same thing is occurring.

Sounds like your video card is getting ready to die.

Hi Joe , it was a fan that caused this problem , I placed it behind the tower to keep it cooler . The problem stopped when I turned the fan off, kinda glad it wasn't the video card, Thanks

Try replacing the video card as mentioned.

You may also want to check and be sure there is nothing around the monitor that might be causing magnetic / electrical interference (such as speakers).

it was a fan that I had just recently placed behind the tower to keep it cool. My system was running a little too hot. Thanks

Yes you are getting either one of two things, an EMI interference with the monitor or and failing video card. Presuming you didn't replace monitor with another with exact same problem. It has happened you know!!

You can also move a known working computer and monitor into the location and see if the problem happens.

But generally, EMI is not a sudden thing. Unless you have just placed the computer in that location or there's construction or other work or electrical devices being moved on either side of the wall, then this should not be a EMI effect.

It's probably the video card or the systemboard if you are using built-in video.
