MS Office XP Media Content CD Install

By Kerry ·
I have Office XP Pro and Media Content installed on
Windows Me. When trying to insert clipart or other media
from the Media Content CD (fully installed to HD), Word or
Powerpoint hangs and doesn't respond. When I tried to
open Clipart Organizer the same results occur, so it
doesn't seem like a problem with Word or Powerpoint.

I attempted and couldn't Repair or Reinstall or even
Uninstall from Setup in Add/Remove Programs nor from the
Media Content CD Setup. When I tried to Repair or
Reinstall or Uninstall, setup will start then hang and
does not respond beyond the first dialog message box
showing setup progress. The HD starts normal activity
sounds, but then goes quiet without any movement. I even
tried to uninstall with Symantec's CleanSweep and got the
same result.

I ran Symantec's Disk Doctor and WinDoctor finding no
problems. It, Media Content, initially worked after I
uninstalled and reinstalled from cleaning up system from
virus (Klez and Badtran) using Symantec's cleanup programs
for those particular viruses. I updated and reran
Symantec's Antivirus on the system with no viruses
reported since then.

Any ideas?

Just a dumb thought........are the Office XP Pro drivers even compatible with WinME? It would seem as though there is an issue with Me recognizing the commands. I would suggest, as much as I hate to, you upgrade to WinXP. ....... H :-(

MS Office XP Media Content CD Install

Although it is an interesting thought and one that I will verify, it doesn't seem reasonable to me when the computer was sold and configured by Gateway with Office XP SBE and worked fine before the upgrade to Office XP Pro. I suppose Gateway might ship computers with MS software that is incompatible, but it doesn't seem likely or responsible or consistent with my past experience with Gateway. The "drivers" for XP Pro and SBE are the same--as far as I know. I appreciate your response though.
