MS SBS 2003 shuts down my HP Proliant Server

By obsanu ·
Hi,

i recently tried to load MS SBS 2003 on an old HP proliant server, after about 48hrs of operation, the server mysteriously started shutting down on it's own. I then bought a NEW HP Proliant DL550 G5 server and loaded the MS SBS 2003 on that and experienced the same thing. is there a fix for the issue that anyone can recommend?

Thanks

Bola

If the server is not configured as a DC in the root of the forest, this could cause this behavior. Strange, but true...

If you tried setting the server up as a workgroup, it will shutdown every x hours. SBS does not like being in a workgroup. workaround = first download and install sysinternal.com "process explorer.exe"
"SUSPEND" the sbscrexe.exe
reg edit - HKLM /CCS /Services /SBCore
R click - give administrators full control
make sure child entries also get admin full permiss
right click "D Word" and change value from 2 to 4
go to windows/sys32 -sbscrexe.exe and add everyone grp with full DENY
go back to "Process Explorer" and KILL SBSCRE.EXE
sbscrexe now disabled (ck services)
