The "initialize tab"?

by seanferd In reply to msconfig question

Which tab is this? In which Windows OS?

Regardless, you can't add anything with MSCOFIG. You add entries to the registry, the Startup folder in the Start Menu, or possibly one of the old-style files.

It's Windows XP.

The Initialize tab is the one that shows all programs that auto-start together with the system, such as anti-virus programs.

Options for you

by NotSoChiGuy In reply to OS

Utilize the RUN key in the registry.

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup, and plop in a shortcut.

There are also loads of apps that will allow you to run programs as services, if your need is that intense. FireDaemon is a good one I've used in the past.

Putting a shortcut on that folder solved my problem. Thanks! *deeply bows*

Not labelled "initialize" on mine.

"Startup", I expect, is the equivalent.

I see you have discovered the Startup folder in the Start Menu, then. Excellent!
