Multiple default gateways

by rsm01 . Updated 19 years ago

I am running Windows Small Business Server 2003 and I have one network connection to the internet. I can connect server to local intranet but cannot connect to the Internet. When I type in the ip address, default gateway and subnet mask for connection to the internet I get the following alert:

“The IP address specified for the local IP address of router is not within the same address space(subnet) as the IP address and subnet mask specified for the network adapter. This will resumt in connectivity problems.”

Another Alert which I get for same problem is:

“Multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a single network (such as intranet or internet) they will not function properly when the gateways are on two separate, disjoint networks…”

Obviously both connections are not the same. What should I do to resolve this issue?

Thanks
