We have a requirement for secure PPTP connections between our remote facility and a secure DOE facility. This is easily facilitated using VPN. We have 7 clients here on a separate parallel ethernet infrastructure all connected through a NetGear 16port hub. Each machine runs W2k Pro and logs on locally with no administrative server on the network. Each client is defined with local static IP addresses…such as 10.0.0.2 and .3 and .4 and .5 and etc. Default gateway is a Cisco 678 DSL Routerattached to the hub and defined with a local IP address (10.0.0.1).
Question:
Will this router allow multiple simultaneous tunnels? Or, does each client need to access this protocol individually…one at a time?
We are experiencing a challenge getting more than one tunnel at a time through this router and we would like to rule out inability as the culprit. If this is indeed the case, is it model specific? or will an upgrade to a better quality model router solve this problem by allowing simultaneous connections? Thanks!
