My computer will not re-boot

I’ve tried to reboot but a error message pops up saying cannot locate file. This started every since a hacker got into my system in a chat room and I unplugged my computer. He had total control and did cause serious problems w/ my programs and my hardware,(motherboard burnout)processor or what I do not know.I have a Pentium 3 850 mhz HP Pavilion 8756c Running Windows NT. HP will not help me w/ my problem since it is out of warranty. Can someone please help me w/ this problem or can tell me whatto do?

    I’ve already reformated my hard drive and re-installed. No luck at fixing my problem.

  you can try sysmon and filemon (processview?) from sysinternals.com to locate what is on your system, also trojanguard or other (black ice….), an av-scan may be good too. but the best way is a new installation and use a good firewall, av-sw, hth cu

  i run w2k on my pc. sometime back some back a bug caught on tome and ruined my time real bad. everything i tried did not work. eventually i tried booting using w9x cd and did fdisk. it worked for me and it could work for you unless if you tried it already.

  You may be, have been reinstalling over your old OS, and may be the hacker or an older program is looking for a file that now is missing, usually some audio settings (MS-DOS compatibility) looks for those files. Take note the file name the system asks for, and look for it on the win.ini, system.ini or in the windows register, and erase the line. This may solve your problem
