My second wireless router keeps disconnecting and has unstable connection

I have a GPON unit that’s connected to my IP, and I connect three devices to the three ports, and I connect another wireless router through the fourth one.

I’ve checked and monitored the GPON router’s connection, and I find no problem with it. It only reports connection problems during the period it’s turned off by the plug with a timer I’ve set up myself.

The second router, however, has random connection problems throughout the day. I plug it through a timer plug just like the GPON unit, and I set it to disconnect for 30 minutes after the GPON’s, but that doesn’t solve the problem. I thought it’s because the unit was too hot, so I put it up out in the open, but that doesn’t solve the problem either.

Here’s what I’ve done so far: By standard, the GPON unit is set to 192.168.100.1. I’ve setup the DHCP to between 10 to 254. The second router, by standard, is 192.168.2.1. I changed it by turning off the DHCP, and set its IP to 192.168.100.2.

And I must admit that did it from learning about it through online articles and Youtube videos, because I have zero knowledge about home networking.

I need help in identifying the problem, and solving it. It’s really frustrating to have connection problems, specially when I’m having an important online meetings and doing any work that requires stable internet connection.

Please help, and many thanks in advance, my friends.
